Blue Water Fishing Safaris
-
Type: Saltwater
-
Seasons: September - April
-
Species: Barracuda, Blue Fin Trevally, Bonito, Dorado, Giant Trevally (GT), King Mackeral, Wahoo, Yellow Fin & Skip Jack Tuna, Sailfish, and Blue, Black & Striped Marlin
Kenya's coast stretches for hundreds of miles and is among the richest and least pressured big game fisheries in the Indian Ocean.
This is proper blue water fishing: heavy tackle for marlin and tuna off-shore, or fly and light tackle for sailfish with Popping and jigging for GT and other species.
We fish the the north Kenya coast, from Lamu up to Kiwayu - remote water that sees few boats. The continental shelf runs close to shore along this stretch, so the grounds are within easy reach and the fishing stays varied: reef edges and drop-offs for the inshore work, open water offshore for the billfish.
Trips are based either from a mothership, live-aboard Dhow following the coastline North and fish grounds that day boats can't reach, or from accommodation on land, depending on the safari.
We run a fleet of boats to suit the fishing: skiffs for the inshore and light-tackle work, and larger off shore sportfishing boats for the blue water days.
